A journal of inner and outer travels, meetings with remarkable people, old and new friends, storytellers, artists, poets, tricksters, bicycle thiefs and people I love, starting in Nepal in June and taking me to where I don't know....

How to avoid a monkey attack

Don't wear black sunglasses (threatening and provoking to monkey)
Don't carry any plasticbags (they are smart and know you might be carrying food and they will mug you)
Don't throw stones at monkey (they will never forget and take revenge)

Today Lama K is eating a obscure meal when I arrive: Cucumber, spinach and green pasta. He wants to become like Milarepa, he explains. "Today we cut your hair and make you a nun," he suggests.
"Why?"
"You are already like a nun. No children, for example. But maybe your husband will get very angry at me."
"Nonono, he would not be angry. He would understand. We do it in ten years."

Swayambhu Stupa takes my breath everytime - literally, the steps are endless, and metaphorically. So close to the sky. Like flying....

Back in Kathmandu I have a little panic attack about another lice invasion. I was playing hide and seek with some VERY suspicious looking children on the mountain. My head is already itching....
