Yellow Lama

This is what I love about living in a 3nd world country: It is raining cats and dogs, the water in the street goes up to my knees, no electricity, no petrol and nobody makes a big fuss out of it.

I forgot to tell you the story of Yellow Lama. Yellow Lama is a prostration master and an Oracle in Swayambhu, Nepal. He fled Tibet 45 years ago in the entourage of the Dalai Lama, he was a Khampa, a warrior. It is a total myth, a sugarsweet Western fairytale, that ancient Tibet was a peaceful society - it was a wild land full of horse thiefs, robbers, smugglers, black magicians, corruption and a feudal system...
The next thirty years Yellow Lama was prostrating aroung Lake Pema in Northern India, the birthplace of Padma Sambhava. Eighteen hours a day. He is now about eighty years old and still does prostrations in the streets of Swayambhu and Boudha, taking refuge to Buddha, Dharma and Sangha all day long. He is married with a beautiful young woman and has four children, all of them living in poverty. If you want to see him for a divination, catch him early in the morning.
